Spark UK Medical partners with HART Group to recruit Emergency Care Assistants from Ireland

Spark UK Medical has partnered with Dublin-based HART Group to recruit Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Successful candidates will train free of charge with HART Group in Dublin, then work frontline shifts with Spark in Cardiff, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester.

Full-time, part-time and bank positions are available. Two online information sessions for interested candidates will run in the week beginning 9 November 2026.

A new route into UK ambulance care

The partnership gives candidates in Ireland a clear route into frontline UK ambulance work. HART Group delivers the training in Dublin, so candidates can qualify close to home before they start with Spark.

Spark provides employment, the operational base and ongoing development once candidates join. The roles cover emergency and urgent ambulance services across four UK cities.

Spark operates nationally, providing pre-hospital care from non-emergency patient transport to intensive care. Its bases include Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester and the Wirral.

The roles

Spark is recruiting frontline ECAs on full-time, part-time and bank contracts. Applicants will need:

•     A full manual Category B driving license with no more than 6 penalty points

•     The right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available

•     Age 18 or over

•     Previous experience is preferable but not essential

Successful candidates receive free training from HART Group, a competitive salary depending on role, and a pension scheme. They also get career progression and ongoing education and development.

What the partners say

Brian Wren, Group Managing Director at Spark UK Medical, said: "There are people across Ireland with the right skills and attitude for frontline ambulance work, and this partnership gives them a clear way in. HART Group's training means candidates start with us properly prepared, and we'll support their development from day one."

Keith Orr, CEO of The HART Group, said: "We have been providing education and ambulance careers in the UK for Irish candidates since 2020 successfully. We simply identified the appetite for progression and development that is just not available currently in Ireland. We are excited to create yet another new pathway and build on our already extensive network with Spark UK Medical for our Irish students seeking new challenges and opportunities abroad.”

Two online information sessions will run in the week beginning 9 November 2026. They are open to anyone in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland interested in the roles.
